Energy Efficiency
Here at Chesapeake Thermal, we are committed to providing energy efficient products and are a proud Energy Star partner. We have specifically selected a handful of manufacturers that we have found are also committed to provide homes with window and door products that meet or exceed the energy efficiency guidelines set by the NFRC.
The Energy Star designation is important for window and door products. This qualification is given to only the most energy efficient products in today’s market. This program is a voluntary partnership with the U.S Department of Energy and the U.S Environmental Protection Agency and designed to help consumers as well as the environment.
In Feburary of 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009 was signed into law. This tax credit offers up to $1500 or 30% on energy efficient windows and doors and extends through 2010. Windows and doors must have a performance rating equal to or below a U-Factor f 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30. We are proud to offer a wide selection of brands and products that qualify for this tax credit.
The 2011 tax credit was changed to 10% of your purchase price (not including installation costs). The maximum credit for windows is $200 and $500 for doors. The windows and doors must meet the energy star criteria. If you have already taken the tax credit in 2009-2010, you cannot take advantage of this years credit. Always check with your tax advisor for more comprehensive information.
