Housing Industry Rebounds

For the third consecutive year we have seen year over year increases in property values overall in the state and we typically see the home improvement industry following trends in the housing market. Some experts state the home building industry is now at about 60% of it’s pre-recession market, however we’ve seen increases in the home improvement industry that suggests the rebound might be more significant for specialty home improvement contractors.

Instead of trading up to a more expensive home with some of the features homeowners might desire– they are remodeling their homes to improve the property value of the home and to enjoy some of the benefits of the windows, doors, siding and roofing while they live in the home. While the average homeowner only spends 1% of their home’s value on improvements, for a home valued at $250,000 that would still mean a homeowner would spend $2,500 annually on home improvements.

A Welcome New AdditionPicture1

In 2015 Tom hired his nephew, Matt Dawson, to help with sales and service. Matt comes from a background in sales and customer service, and grew up working with his dad, Matt, and his uncle John installing windows during summer breaks from school. He completed his Bachelor’s in Business Communication in August and looks to use his education and skill set to grow Chesapeake Thermal as a 2nd generation company.
