Many times we are asked what window we sell. As an local independent contractor, we have the ability to sell windows from many different manufacturers. After being in the business for 26 years, we have narrowed it down to a few favorites. This gives us the ability to fit the right product to our consumers needs and budgets.

There are many factors in deciding which window we want to represent. Not only do we look at the construction of the window, the warranty, how it is made, the materials used and the quality of the workmanship. Of equal importance is the company that stands behind that window. How many years they have been in business, their reputation, and what kind of service department they have. Windows have many working parts and because of this, sometimes those parts will need to be adjusted or replaced. All of the windows we sell come with a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser where the frame, parts and glass are covered. These warranties are transferable one time, should you decide to sell your home. The manufacturer also provides a 1 year labor warranty which we automatically extend to 5 years. For those who want additional peace of mind, we offer extended labor warranties. We want our customers to feel comfortable choosing Chesapeake Thermal to furnish and install their windows and doors and not have to worry about a product failing. While we are happy to sell you the window of your choice, should it not be one of our choosing, we would also like to point out the features of the windows we feel are far superior to most of the windows being sold at inflated prices.

Our top seller is the Soft-Lite Window line. They have been manufacturing their windows since 1934 and are building one the most energy efficient and durable windows available today. It is one of our most beautiful windows with a sculpted sash design, low profile locks, ergonomically designed sash lift rails that are K-Beam reinforced with kevlar, fully welded corners, and a beveled exterior. We carry the Imperial LS, Bainbridge and Barrington window models which provide various profiles and price points for this elite line. Soft-Lite offers a variety of glazing options including their Ultimate triple glazed package with a U-Factor of .17. Exterior and interior color options are also available.
We also distribute and install windows and doors from a variety of other manufacturers. Provia Door, Thermal Industries, Vytex, Alside and Simonton are just a few of the other manufacturers with which we have long standing relationships. This allows us the flexibility to offer a myriad of different styles and options including colors, decorative glass, simulated divided lites.
You can buy the best window in the world and if it’s not installed properly, it’s a waste of money. All of our windows are installed to our stingent specifications. We perimeter insulate each window installed and use only the highest quality flashing, caulking and other installation materials. It’s the biggest reason we have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and can honestly say that we’ve never had a complaint registered against us with any Consumer Regulatory Agency. That’s over 26 years of excellent workmanship.

I can hardly believe we had snow this past weekend, but we did. Winter is arriving earlier each year. The only good news I can glean from this is it gets you thinking about getting your home ready for the cold weather earlier. With the colder weather comes the home show season. Traditionally a time for homewoners to take stock of their homes and update or fix any problems before the cold winter weather arrives. Tax Credits for energy efficient windows and doors are still available for 2011.  You can get up to $200 back for windows and up to $500 for doors by purchansing Energy Star rated products that qualify for the tax credit. All of the products that we use qualify. Unfortunately our suppliers are informing us of upcoming price increases starting August 1st. The cost of raw materials driven by a spike in global demand is fueling the increase across the board for aluminum and vinyl materials.  So, if you have an estimate out there, please give us a call and get your order in before the prices go up.  If you are thinking about getting new windows or doors, we can meet with you and get your order in, but you need to call us today.

Imperial LS Double Hungs White Window

This July we are featuring the Imperial LS window from Soft-Lite.  The energy efficiency and beauty of this window make it our top pick for your home.  One of it’s most energy efficient features is the triple-fin weather-strip on both sashes.  This dramatically reduces the air infiltration into your home.  During a 25 mile per hour wind, a typical vinyl window allows 1.35 gallons of air leakage per minute.  The Imperial LS allows only .15 gallons of air leakage per minute.  This gives this window an AAMA air infiltration of .02cfm which is  5 times better than the industry standard.  I know this sounds very technical but when you are comparing  windows, the ratings you should look for are the NFRC ratings which include U factor (thermal efficiency)and Solar Heat Gain (SHGC).   It is important to take if one step further and also look at the AAMA ratings which include the air infiltration rating and the structural rating.  This tells you how long the window will last and and how well it will perform over time.  Please feel free to contact us to obtain the complete ratings for the Imperial LS window.

Many of our customers tell us how the new windows we installed in their home have reduced their energy bills, made their home more energy efficient, and as an added bonus – helped eliminated stink bugs from entering their home through their windows!  This year looks like we are going to have a banner infestation, so we suggest getting new windows with full screens .  This month we are offering FREE FULL SCREENS with every new window order!

Most screens in double hung and slider windows only cover half of the opening.  They do not have a true seal against the window sash, allowing those nasty stink bugs to slither through.  We suggest getting a screen to cover your window completely on the outside.  This helps eliminate the bugs from getting in so easily.
